Welcome! Last Updated: 06/03/08
3R Ranch is located on 10 acres on the
outskirts of Grand Junction, Colorado. The grand valley of Western
Colorado is surrounded by many mountainous formations.
To the east is Grand Mesa which is the
largest table top mesa in the United States. It is covered with over 300
lakes. The outdoor activities are vast throughout the entire year. The top
of the Mesa is 40 miles from our ranch.
The Colorado National Monument and
Uncompagrhe Plateau are 10 miles south of the ranch. This area is also full
of year-long activities.
North of 3R ranch is the Bookcliff
formations, which also include Mount Garfield (named after president
Garfield). On the back side of these formations are a wild horse herd which
is monitored and roams freely to this day.
West of 3R Ranch is the Utah border by 24
miles. Moab, Utah, is 75 miles and is also home to Arches
National Park.
We are animal lovers of all kinds and
currently breed Appaloosa Horses, Miniature appaloosa horses, miniature
Australian shepherds and a small herd of black angus cattle.
3R ranch has a bit of history to it. The home is an older farm house built in the early 50's. The trees on the property are easily 100 years plus in age. The gates, fencepost and rails are from more than one 100-year-old ranch sites and farms. We saved them from local sites that were to be bulldozed, burned and developed. We also have numerous older out buildings and an old Bull barn which works great for our horses. We will be repairing an old weigh scale, as well, on the ranch in the upcoming years.
Our facility also is used as a horse hotel
for folks traveling with their horses or other livestock. We are listed in
the Nationwide Overnight Stabling Directory and Equestrian Vacation Guide
that is published by Equine Travelers of America. We are well-equipped to
handle your livestock and trailers. Rick and Larissa rare both very familiar
with livestock and have vast experience with animals. Larissa
owns and operates a professional Ranch & Petsitting Business in the Grand
Valley area (click the link below to go to the sitting service page).
Below are winter photos taken January 2008 of an old tree on our property that we have named the "Angel Tree." We believe this tree to be around 200 years old. It is in the middle of our back pasture and is home to a couple of hawks and other birds.
